TEEN MOVIE CHANGE

Due to a change in release date, we will not be showing The Lightning Thief this Friday (June 25th). Instead we will be showing The Imagnarium of Doctor Parnassus (Heath Ledger's last movie). The Lightning Thief will be shown on Friday July 9th at 6:30pm.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassius is rated PG-13 for violent images, some sensuality, language and smoking.

MAY EVENTS!

Take a look at the May Calendar of Events here!

DO SOMETHING!

Dosomething.org
encourages and helps teens to get involved in the causes they care about. It doesn't have to be a large scale project - as long as YOU care about the purpose.

Watch the video, go to the site, see what you want to do! Even if you don't want to be involved with the site, you can get a lot of great ideas!

TAKE OUR POLL!

To the right is a new poll asking which Kaplan programs will be most useful to you. Please take a moment to submit! You can choose more than one answer.

Even if you're done with College Prep, your input on what you think would be most useful for others will be a great help! We want to make sure we're offering the best programs possible.

APRIL PROGRAMS!

We have lots of great things going on this month!

Some highlights:
-Book vs Movie (4/5) is back: Harry Potter 2 this time!
-Werewolves Night (4/14) where we'll play Werewolves of Miller's Hollow
-Teen Writing Group (4/19) will meet for the first time!
-Xbox Live Arcade for Video Gaming (4/21)
-Celebrate Earth Day (4/22) by making Eco-Bags out of old magazines (bring your own if you want)!
-Plant Buddies (4/25) where you can decorate a pot and plant some seeds, then take it home to watch it grow!

We have even more going on, so be sure to check out the calendar!

SPRING GARDENING

We will be doing our Spring Garden Cleaning project on Wednesday March 31st at 10am! The public schools are closed this day for spring break.

Remember to bring clothes that can get a bit dirty and to dress for the weather, since we'll be outside. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to bring extra shoes to wear afterwords.

If you have any rakes, clippers, small shovels or anything else garden-useful, feel free to bring it! We'll be depending on you guys to bring things to work with.

See you then!

ATTENTION JANE AUSTEN LOVERS!

The BBC (British Broadcasting Channel) has recreated a few of Jane Austen's classics! PBS recently finished airing their new Emma (which I personally thought was awesome). They'll be showing Northanger Abby on February 14th at 9pm & Persuasion on February 21st at 9pm. Look at their Masterpiece Classics schedule here.

If you miss any showings they often have them available to watch online, too.

LOOKING FOR A NEW BOOK?

Check out Library Thing! Find a book you've already liked, and on that book's profile page you'll get recommendations for other books you might want to read.

You can also join a discussion or group. And each book has reviews, both professional and from other readers. Check it out! You don't need to make a log-in or anything.

When you find the next book you want to read, see if we have it through our online catalog.
